Hi Linda - from what you've described it sounds as though it could be a fault relating to the circuit board. I'd suggest consulting an engineer. Let me know how you get on! GW

Hi, We have a 6 year old 15hxi glow worm boiler which is not working after a power cut. The green light flashes and the fan whirrs (like a washing machine drum going round) The display shows a flashing 8.8 c bar. It also occasionally clicks as though it is trying to start, but doesn't. Any insight you can give into what this fault may be will be very much appreciated.

Hi Caroline - Sounds like it could be the electrode or igniter, please consult an engineer to look at it for you.

Hoep you get everything sorted.

Hi,
We have a 4yr 15hxi glow worm boiler unfortunately it has completely stopped working without an error message. I have tried turning it off and on a couple of times. The fan begins to whirr, the green light flashes but there are no sparks etc seen in the inspection window. Any ideas would be gratefully received!

Hi, thanks for your response. It turned out to be the expansion vessel which has now been replaced.

Hi Marion, Sorry to hear you've been experiencing difficulties.

If the boiler is losing pressure then it is either leaking via the pressure relief valve outside, or there is a leak somewhere on the system. If it is leaking outside then the expansion vessel may have lost air charge and requires recharging to around 0.7 bar, also it maybe that the expansion vessel pipe which is blocked and requires cleaning, causing the pressure to rise then go out of the overflow.

If these things are ok then there must be a leak somewhere on the system.

I would recommend that your engineer isolates the boiler from the system and leaves it on test for a couple of days then he will know if the leak is on the boiler or the system. I hope that helps! Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Sally

I have a Glowworm 18sxi. It keeps losing pressure. I've had a plumber out to check for leaks and he replaced a valve which has helped but not cured the problem i.e. I still have to repressurise every three to four days. I've also noticed a reduction in pressure from the hot water taps. Any suggestions?

Hi Andy - My colleagues have suggested that it maybe a problem with the thermocouple (which can get worn away after a period of time). If this is the case then it can be easily replaced - I'd suggest contacting an engineer to confirm that is the case and he/she will be able to get it sorted for you. Cheers, sally

I have a Glow Worm Space Saver Mk II, which up to now has provided excellent service for the 13 years we have been in the house. However, over the last couple of weeks the pilot light has started to go out with increasing frequency, up to the point when it only lasts for @ 1 hour now. Re-lighting has been fairly easy. Any suggestions regarding the likely cause and solution ?

Hi Andy - This could be down to a number of reasons: it could be that the thermostat isn't putting the correct voltage to the boiler to keep it fired up, it could also be that you have some form of circulation problems. I would recommend that you contact a gas safe registered engineer to call and check the boiler for you.
