With increasing awareness of climate change and the government’s recent announcement of energy saving initiatives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive, now is a great time for homeowners to focus on the ways in which we can all make small alterations at home and in our everyday lives to help fight climate change.

Climate Week gives us all, all the more reason to consider both how we’re using energy and if we can make small changes in our everyday lives which could make a big impact on saving energy, and preventing adverse climate change.

To celebrate this year’s Climate Week which takes place from 21st – 27th March, Glow-worm have come up with a few ideas of ways in which you can participate and we can all do our bit for the environment.

What can I do?

• Leave the car at home

Walking or using public transport to get to work during Climate Week instead of driving, will help to help reduce the amount of CO2 emissions being pumped into the environment, which can in turn help towards the EU reaching its target of a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas production by 2020.

If it isn’t too tricky, why not try and keep it up for longer?

• Save energy at home

Small things like switching off the TV and the lights when you leave a room, only filling the kettle with the required amount of water and using your central heating to responsibly heat your home, can all add up to big energy savings if we all give it a go!

• Renew your lifestyle

As well as cutting back on the amount of energy you rely on day-to-day, Climate Week provides a great reason to take a look at the possibilities renewable heating technologies such as solar thermal, or air to water heat pumps can bring to your home, and find out a bit more about how they could help you to save on your fuel bills and help to reduce your carbon footprint.
